. Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals affected by substance misuse? We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Substance Misuse Team Leader to take a lead role in delivering high-quality recovery services within a prison setting at HMP Peterborough.
As a senior member of our multi‑disciplinary team, you will provide care to patients with complex substance misuse problems and co‑occurring mental health issues, from entry into the prison system to re‑entry into the community. Your main duties include:
- Lead the delivery of psychosocial substance misuse services in line with national standards and performance indicators.
- Provide high‑quality, person‑centred care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Champion both harm reduction and recovery‑focused approaches.
- Ensure services demonstrate value for money and meet the expectations of commissioners.
- Provide leadership and professional guidance to the staff team, ensuring adherence to policies and the highest standards of care.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust providing physical, mental health, and specialty services in hospital and community settings. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire.

- Leadership skills and experience.
- Evidence of equivalent training and experience within the provision of structured psychosocial interventions, Motivational Interviewing skills, RCGP1, RQF Level 3 in Substance Misuse.
- Approx. 3 years experience in prison or community related substance misuse multi‑disciplinary work.
- Previous experience of working in a secure setting.
- Ability to identify complex issues/situations/information and formulate solutions and recommendations for patients.
- To assess and evaluate risk in relation to substance misuse needs for the psychosocial service and patients.
