Contract:
12 months (strong likelihood of extension) | Hourly Rate: £22.05 PAYE + 22% shift uplift | Shift Pattern:
Rotating shifts – Early (05:30–14:00), Day (07:00–16:30), Afternoon (13:00–22:30)
A leading global engineering and R&D organisation is seeking a skilled and motivated Emissions Measurement Technician to join their cutting-edge research and development centre in Peterborough. This role supports critical maintenance and calibration operations for state-of-the-art emissions measurement systems in a fast-paced technical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, service, calibrate, and maintain advanced emissions measurement equipment
- Conduct diagnostic investigations and provide first-line breakdown support
- Support engineers with technical investigations in a laboratory/test cell environment
- Modify facility plant, test rigs, and measurement equipment as required
- Execute TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) activities to ensure equipment reliability
- Evaluate and improve emissions measurement products and processes
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, attention to detail, and safety
- Collaborate with customers and team members with a proactive, safety-first mindset
- Read technical drawings and follow schematics/instructions accurately
- Manage tasks independently with self-motivation
Skills & Experience Required:
- Background in plant or instrumentation maintenance
- Technical apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on industry experience (electro-mechanical bias preferred)
- Experience with gaseous and/or particulate emissions measurement systems
- Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions
- Knowledge or experience with:
- Horiba MEXA Gaseous Analysers
- AVL Smoke / Micro Soot / Opacimeter instruments
- Previous experience in engine test cells or engineering technician roles
