The Emergency Department Registered Nurse prescribes and coordinates professional nursing care for assigned patients. The RN carries out these responsibilities independently within the guidelines of accepted nursing practice, medical direction and hospital policies, procedures and standards.
Responsibilities- Patient Care:
Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions to ensure optimal outcomes. - Collaborative Teamwork:
Collaborate with physicians, fellow nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. - Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patients’ conditions, treatments, and progress. Report any changes or concerns promptly to the appropriate team members. - Medication Administration:
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and protocols. - Patient
Education:
Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment options, and preventive measures to promote overall wellness. - Support and Advocacy:
Offer emotional support and advocate for patients’ rights, ensuring they receive compassionate and respectful care. - Adherence to Policies and Regulations:
Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe and ethical work environment. - Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on medical advancements, best practices, and industry standards through ongoing professional development activities. - Additional duties as assigned.
- Current New Hampshire RN licensure.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Two years of Emergency Department experience preferred; required rhythm recognition or basic arrhythmia experience.
- ACLS certification required; PALS and CEN/TNCC certifications preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
- Adaptability, attention to detail, commitment to mission.
- Excellent communication—verbal and written.
- Compassion and empathy; commitment to patient-centered care.
- Team player who collaborates effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Full‑time night shift, variable shift position.
SalaryUp to $50.00/hour.
