Position Overview:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Occupational/Employee Health

The Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in Occupational/Employee Health operates under the supervision of a nurse executive or Director of Occupational Health. This role entails collaboration with a diverse array of stakeholders, including employees, employers, occupational health and safety teams, and other healthcare professionals, to assess health and safety requirements, prioritize interventions, design and implement health programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of care and service delivery.

The LPN may serve in various clinical settings, including Family Care, Orthopedics, or Internal Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical assessments, diagnosis, management, and documentation pertaining to both occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
  • Conduct comprehensive case management for a spectrum of occupational and non-occupational health issues.
  • Execute health hazard assessments and engage in surveillance activities among employee populations, workplaces, and community cohorts.
  • Investigate, monitor, and analyze incidents and trends related to illness and injury, while developing strategies to enhance employee health and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing occupational health and safety.
  • Administer and manage occupational and environmental health services.
  • Implement health promotion and disease prevention strategies across primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention levels.
  • Provide counseling, health education, and adult learning-based training programs.
  • Participate in research initiatives concerning occupational and environmental health.
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    Must be a graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
  • Experience:

    A minimum of 1-2 years in a healthcare setting is required, with preference given to candidates with occupational and/or employee health experience.
  • Required Skills:
    • Possession of a current New Hampshire LPN license is mandatory; the license must be active at the time of application submission.
    • Certification in a specialized area is preferred;
      Breath Alcohol Technician Certification is also desirable.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work autonomously with strong organizational capabilities.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per American Heart Association guidelines.
State License Requirements:
  • New Hampshire license is required, with compact status allowed.
