The Emterra Maintenance/Repair team in Kawartha Lakes is seeking a skilled Floor Truck Mechanic to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair automotive and truck systems, perform scheduled maintenance, and maintain accurate work documentation. This role involves diagnosing and repairing components in accordance with company policy and manufacturer specifications, testing equipment for proper performance, supporting daily operations, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring a safe, organized work environment.
PositionDescription
- As a Floor Truck Mechanic, maintain reports, work orders and documentation.
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Diagnose and complete repairs safely and within company policy and manufacturer specifications.
- Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of automotive and truck systems including fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, chassis, frame, cab, body, air brakes, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical/electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized repair equipment.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
- Communicate regularly with managers regarding repair status and concerns.
- Work as part of a team to support daily operational needs.
- Provide guidance and instruction to apprentices and other junior team members.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubricants, and tune-ups.
- Maintain a clean and organized shop/equipment work area.
- Suggest positive changes to processes or procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Observe safe work practices.
- 310T or Red Seal License; or equivalent to challenge provincial exam.
- More than 4 years of experience in the trade.
- Completed training courses in the trade.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Basic proficiency with computers.
- Experience with online preventative maintenance programs.
- Ability to stand, lift up to 60 lbs, and perform bending/twisting for extended periods.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; punctual, reliable, team player.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
