D.M. Wills Associates Limited is in search of a Project Biologist to join the Natural Sciences group in our Environmental Services Department.
Reporting to the Natural Sciences Group Leader you will be responsible for creating technical reports with a biology focus. This entails fieldwork, data collection, entry, compilation and analysis, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities- Complete fieldwork, data collection and entry for the following:
- Ecological Land Classification mapping.
- Wetland boundary delineations.
- Visual and auditory bird and amphibian identification skills.
- Habitat mapping, fish sampling and identification.
- Species at Risk surveys.
- Headwater Drainage Feature Assessments.
- Report compilation and analysis including understanding and determining applicability of relevant municipal, provincial, and federal government regulations.
- Ensure key deliverables are completed on schedule and within the time allotted in the proposal.
- Contributing to the preparation of proposals and project work plans.
- You must be a highly motivated and an independent learner with a desire to be involved in the Natural Sciences field.
- 4-year degree in Biology or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience providing the essential duties and responsibilities which may include:
- Completing MTO terrestrial and fisheries assessments is considered an asset.
- Completing Environmental Impact Studies or similar reports.
- Fisheries and Oceans Canada Request for Reviews and Authorizations.
- Species at Risk permitting.
- Summarizing field observations and data into organized field notes and incorporate into technical reports.
- Willingness to work in the outdoors for extended periods of time in varying weather conditions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent work ethic and ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
- Certification in the following is considered an asset:
- Ministry of Transportation RAQs qualifications in Fisheries Assessment, Environmental Monitoring during Construction, Fisheries Compliance during Contracts and Natural Sciences.
- Electrofishing.
- Ontario Wetland Evaluation System.
- ArcGIS mapping.
