Position: Master of Public Health Student Practicums (3)

Master of Public Health Student Practicums (3)

Position Title: Master of Public Health Student Practicums x 3.

Overall description: These 16‑week placements offer a unique opportunity for Master of Public Health students to apply new skills and knowledge within a local community setting. Supervision will be provided by managers or senior administrators with opportunities for mentoring by program staff.

Beginning/End Period: May 4, 2026 to August 21, 2026 (16 weeks or 560 hours). Start/end dates can be flexible based on expectations of student’s institution.

Wage: $10,000.00 stipend.
Office(s): Peterborough.

Practicum Descriptions: Detailed project descriptions are not available at this time. However, it is anticipated that available practicum opportunities will be grounded in annual operational plans created by each program or division. Prioritized programming for 2026 aligns with current OPHS Protocols/Regulations, or Ministry directives (e.g. vaccination). The practicum project objectives will be further developed based on interests and existing competencies of students.

Previous examples of student projects include:
Consumption & Treatment Site evaluation support, enhancing drug poisoning dashboard, quality improvement of community‑facing COVID‑19 Risk Index, data collection/analysis to inform new Strategic Plan, assisting operational objectives of the Indigenous Health Advisory Circle, meeting requirements of climate change planning.

Requirements

Must be a student currently enrolled in a Master of Public Health program requiring a practicum placement. Student applicants should express their set of interests and competency development at time of application.

E.g. epidemiology, health promotion, organizational change, healthy equity, policy development, program evaluation.
