Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in Peterborough Area. Reporting to the Team Leader, this role offers an opportunity to apply your expertise and uphold our commitment to excellence.
Role OverviewThis role is about more than inspections, it’s about shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for people and communities. As a Project Technologist, you’ll contribute to critical health and safety initiatives by developing hygiene documentation, preparing technical reports, and working closely with clients to meet their goals.

Your Role and Action- Conduct assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances, mould, indoor air quality (IAQ), and industrial hygiene
- Interview clients to understand building history and site‑specific concerns
- Perform site inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
- Use environmental monitoring equipment to record measurements and collect samples
- Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB‑containing materials
- Collect mould, bacteria, and asbestos air samples, including Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) samples
- Assess building damage related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire
- Support clients during flood and loss emergencies to restore buildings to operational condition
- Prepare detailed technical reports with findings and recommendations
- Inspect and document work completed by abatement and restoration contractors
- Liaise with clients and contractors; schedule and coordinate field reviews
- Support business development with existing clients and maintain strong client relationships
- Maintain quality control standards within the group
- Ensure the health and safety of workers and building occupants on project sites

- Diploma or degree in Construction/Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or related Science/Applied Science field
- Entry‑level to 3 years’ experience in hazardous materials (asbestos, mould, lead, PCBs, etc.)
- E.T. or related professional designation considered an asset
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety legislation and guidelines
- Familiarity with building systems and ability to read architectural drawings
- Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and fieldwork
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical report‑writing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle; flexibility for travel, off‑hours work, security clearances, and site requirements
