What’s the Role?

Model Shop Lead Hand – Chilca Project

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Model Shop Lead Hand to join our team in Chilca.

In this role, you will be responsible for the manufacturing, maintenance and inspection of foundry models in accordance with standards, procedures and work instructions. You will prepare model drawings and 3D models based on foundry design requirements, prepare gauge drawings and maintain accurate model and inspection records. You will also assist other workers with production activities, support internal and outsourced model shop work and actively promote a strong culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Model Manufacturing and Maintenance:
    Perform model manufacturing and maintenance activities in the model shop (internal and external) according to standards, procedures, work instructions and methods.
  • Model Inspection and 3D Scanning:
    Perform inspections of models both within Bradken and at outsourced facilities using 3D scanners and traditional inspection tools, preparing and maintaining the corresponding records.
  • Drawings, 3D Modelling and Gauges:
    Prepare model drawings and 3D models according to foundry design requirements and prepare the required gauge drawings to ensure dimensional compliance.
  • Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement:
    Keep the work area, tools and equipment safe, clean and in good order, comply with all safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards, participate in training, safety interactions and task observations, and proactively identify continuous improvement and waste reduction opportunities.
Our Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Technical degree, preferably related to mechanical, industrial or manufacturing fields.
  • Experience:

    At least three years of relevant experience working with foundry models and model shops in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications/Training:
    Training or certifications in mechanical design software and 3D modelling, as well as good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), are highly valued.
  • Background in the industry:
    Experience in foundry, heavy manufacturing, fabrication or mining wear products is highly valued.
  • Language skills:
    Intermediate or conversational level in English is valued but not mandatory.
Location

The position will be based at our Chilca Foundry, located at G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (transportation will be provided).
