Position

Reports to:
Campus Principal and Collaborates with CTE Coordinator
Length of Term/Employment: 190 workdays / At-will
Position MissionThe CTE Teacher shall, under the direction of the principal, provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the subject area(s) assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and be college and career ready.
Position Qualifications- CTE certification from an approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction and ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Assists students in obtaining Industry Certifications.
- Active sponsor to respective Career and Technical Student Organization(s) (CTSO).
- Promote Career and Technical Education Initiatives.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of school curriculum programs and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare emergency lesson plan folder to cover 2 days of material.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established to Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for SPED students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aid and volunteers.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Participate in extended day and weekend school tutoring as required.
- Usage of ICEV curriculum to promote College and Career Readiness.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Teach students to work toward self-discipline and responsibility.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsored by campus administration and CTE Coordinator.
- Be a positive role model for students, and support mission of school.
- Ensure good student discipline by being regular in attendance and on time.
- Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Will use the discipline management plan to include but not limited to:
- Ground rules stated positively and posted so they may be easily seen.
- A step process which includes reinforcement for appropriate on task behavior and consequences for inappropriate off-task behavior, which is posted at all times.
- A lesson agenda, which models task organization and time management skills and ensures total time planning in the classroom.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, supplies and other instructional materials in collaboration with the CTE Coordinator, and based on student need.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, directors, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Attend one Career and Technical Education conference per academic year.
- Work week schedule:
Work day begins at 7:30 a.m. - Adheres to staff dress code.
- Arrive at first morning class 15 minutes before class bell.
- Actively participates in district CTE advisory council meetings.
- Keeps Jubilee Academies campus administration informed of maintenance problems.
- Actively supports and participates in fundraising activities of Jubilee Academies.
- Compile, maintain, and fill all reports, records, and other documents required.
