North Inch Golf Course, Perth
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and capable individual to lead the operation of North Inch Golf Course, a busy and well-established municipal facility. The Golf Course Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the course, including staff leadership, oversight of greenkeeping activity and maintaining high standards of course condition and customer experience. A key part of the role is to protect and grow income and participation, working closely with user groups and stakeholders in a community-focused environment.
Applicants may come from a range of backgrounds and do not need to have worked previously within the golf industry, however they must demonstrate a sound knowledge of golf, a keen interest in the sport, and the ability to apply transferable management, operational and leadership skills from previous roles.
- Provide overall leadership for the day-to-day operation of North Inch Golf Course.
- Line manage all on-site staff, including greenkeeping personnel, ensuring effective rotas, performance management and a positive team culture.
- Oversee the planning and delivery of greenkeeping and maintenance programmes, ensuring high standards of course condition.
- Ensure compliance with course rules, policies, health & safety requirements and council procedures.
- Take responsibility for growing income through season ticket sales, visitor play, and increased utilisation.
- Promote the course and support marketing initiatives aimed at increasing participation and repeat use.
- Maintain strong relationships with user groups, golf clubs, members and visitors.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of customer care and on-course experience.
- Manage operational budgets and monitor expenditure to ensure best value.
- Oversee course assets, infrastructure and machinery repairs/maintenance.
- Contribute to forward planning for improvements and asset replacement.
- Monitor course usage, income and performance, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Use data and feedback to inform decision making and service improvements.
- Support the ongoing development of North Inch as a successful and sustainable municipal golf facility.
- The postholder may be required to undertake other duties consistent with the level and responsibilities of the post.
- Experience working within a golf or leisure-based environment, including operational, supervisory or management responsibility.
- Proven experience of managing staff and leading operational teams.
- Experience of managing budgets and contributing to income generation.
- A strong working knowledge of golf and the wider golfing environment, with a keen interest in the sport and an understanding of how a public golf course operates.
- Practical understanding of greenkeeping operations and course presentation standards.
- Experience of working with and around greenkeeping machinery and equipment, with an understanding of safe operation and maintenance requirements (desirable but not essential).
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service in a public-facing environment.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with members of the public, user groups, golf clubs and other stakeholders.
- Confident, professional and approachable manner when dealing with customers and colleagues.
- Working knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to outdoor and operational environments.
- Experience of applying safe systems of work and risk assessments in practice.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion and dignity at work in line with Council policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
