Upholsterer Reading, Berkshire Permanent | Full Time | £35,000 basic | OTE £40,250 An experienced upholsterer is required for a well-established furniture services workshop based in Reading, Berkshire. This is a permanent, full-time position with a competitive basic salary of £35,000, overtime availability, and genuine long-term stability within a busy, professional workshop environment. The workshop handles a broad mix of contract and domestic reupholstery, including modern chairs, meeting pods, sofas, armchairs, and fixed seating.

The successful candidate will work across the full upholstery process from strip-down through to finished piece. The role Working as part of a small, skilled team, you will be responsible for the reupholstery and restoration of a wide range of furniture pieces to a consistently high standard. Day-to-day duties include cutting and applying foam, wadding, and upholstery fabrics, operating sewing machines, using hand tools and air compressor tools, fixing webbing and springs, covering frames, and executing decorative finishes including piping, buttoning, fringing, and deep buttoning.

You will work with both supplied and self-made templates and carry out minor wood repairs including replacement of damaged seat boards. What we are looking for A minimum of five years of hands-on upholstery experience is essential. You should be comfortable working across both modern and traditional techniques, working to deadlines in a production environment, and taking genuine pride in the quality of your output.

Experience with contract upholstery, commercial furniture, or high-volume workshop environments is a strong advantage. Salary and package £35,000 basic salary per annum OTE £40,250 based on 4 hours overtime per week at x1.5 rate Overtime paid at £25.24 per hour (x1.5 of basic hourly rate) Company pension scheme 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays Free on-site parking Refreshments provided Hours Monday to Thursday, 7.00am to 4.30pm Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm Saturday morning overtime available at enhanced rate Location Reading, Berkshire on-site workshop role.
