Head of Maintenance - Care Home

Overview

About The Role As a Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you'll ensure a clean and well-maintained environment so residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well. You will help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere as part of delivering first-class care and support. You can expect plenty of variety, with tasks across the care home building and the gardens and grounds.

This may include fixing a leaky tap, planting bulbs, leading a team, and supporting the General Manager with annual budget planning. You will liaise with contractors on jobs outside the expertise of your team.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-kept care home environment for residents and staff.
• Lead maintenance activities, work autonomously, and manage a maintenance team.
• Support the General Manager with annual budget planning and cost control.
• Coordinate with contractors for work outside the team’s scope and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks across the building and grounds as required.

• Wellbeing of residents is the top priority; carry out work with sensitivity to their needs.
• Hands-on experience in property maintenance with at least one trade skill; ability to undertake a wide range of tasks.
• Reliable and flexible in working hours.
• Full UK driving licence, IT literacy, and GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
