Location:

Early Intervention and Prevention Service, Pullar House, Perth

Perth & Kinross Council aims to work with the residents of the Perth & Kinross area to provide independent living across all communities.

A vacancy has arisen within the Early Intervention and Prevention Service for an Assistant Team Leader.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in supporting the management of a busy team comprising of social workers and mental health assistants; undertaking staff supervision, reviewing Adult Support & Protection cases and reports.
  • Supporting the Team Leader in managing the first point of access for those with mental health concerns by facilitating a mental health triage of cases across the partnership, including third sector and health colleagues.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of the new service, ensuring service delivery and completion of all statutory duties involved in adult social work.
  • Representing the team in various multi‑agency settings.

The service is fast paced and varies each day, with excellent training and supervision provided. Benefits include flexible working scheme, modern working practices and generous annual leave entitlement.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Motivated, engaging, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective time management to handle competing demands and be flexible and responsive.
  • Good understanding of mental health issues, substance use and adult protection.
  • Ability to integrate and cultivate successful links within the team and across services.
  • Knowledge of services, challenges, demands and demographics within PKC is an advantage.
  • Experience of assessment of social and personal care needs and managing risk.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of social work principles and values.
  • Experience of Adult Support & Protection legislation and other legislation such as the Mental Health & Care (Scotland) Act and Adults with Incapacity Act.
  • Relevant qualifications: DIPSW, CQSW, CSS and other social work qualifications.
  • Current registration with the SSSC and eligibility to register with the PVG scheme.
  • Valid UK driving licence (travel to various locations across Perth and Kinross).
