The RoleSSE is looking for a talented Group Technical Accountant to join our Group Reporting team. In this key role, you’ll help shape how SSE applies IFRS across the Group, support our business units with complex accounting matters, and play a central part in implementing new accounting standards.
You will- Provide technical accounting advice on complex and ad‑hoc issues across SSE’s businesses.
- Maintain and develop Group accounting policies and support high‑quality disclosures in our Annual Report.
- Lead and contribute to IFRS adoption impact assessments and emerging reporting requirements.
- Work with teams across the Group on business change projects, including acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations.
- Support the Group’s external reporting process by reviewing key judgements, estimates and impairment analysis.
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (5+ years PQE) with strong IFRS knowledge.
- Experience in financial reporting or external audit, ideally within a listed or large‑scale organisation.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues clearly for senior stakeholders.
- Confidence working independently on technical matters and managing multiple priorities.
