For this role, we require successful applicants to be based in one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Aberdeen preferred however Inverness & Perth considered

Salary: £35,200 - £52,800 + car /car allowance+ performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

This role requires regular on-site and offshore vessel presence to support the project team, overseeing construction & vessel mobilisation activities, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing standards.

The role

The SSEN Transmission Offshore Delivery team is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager (Marine Cables) to support the delivery of the Spittal to Peterhead HVDC Link project, which forms part of the ASTI High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Project portfolio which directly facilitates Scotland’s ambition to meet Net Zero.

Reporting into the Project Manager, you will be part of the Project Management team responsible for the delivery of the project through the execution phase into commissioning and energisation, and full handover to our Operations team. You will play a key role in the successful execution of the project, ensuring collaboration across the supply chain, and managing package interfaces. The scale of our portfolio of projects is already large and is likely to grow in the coming years, offering opportunities for progression within the business.

You

will
  • Work alongside the Project Manager to coordinate project activities, running weekly project team meetings, including recording actions and following up while keeping stakeholder expectations and SSE leadership values at the forefront.
  • Monitor contractor progress including attending daily vessel and site calls to track current and emerging issues, reviewing & administering daily progress reporting to ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment & Wellbeing standards, championing SSE’s Golden Rules.
  • Support scheduling, budget and cost tracking to ensure projects remain on programme and within budget, managing project reporting and supporting contract administration.
  • Interface with contractors, design teams and internal/external stakeholders, administering flow of project documentation and procedures to meeting project operational requirements.
  • Support SSEN readiness processes to enable vessel mobilisations including coordinating campaign specific HIRA’s, ensuring actions are recorded, followed up and closed out.
  • Ad hoc onshore site and offshore vessel visits and supervision.
You have
  • A background in engineering, science, survey or other related sector along with a strong desire to progress towards a Project Management role.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Willingness and ability to represent SSEN Transmission with external organisations such as stakeholders or regulatory bodies.
  • A track record in successful delivery of work packages or project scopes; meeting safety, environmental, budget and schedule expectations.
  • Experience (first hand, equivalent or transferable) relating to subsea cable installation such as; pull-ins, lay, trenching / burial, jointing, crossings, landfall works, HDDs, testing and commissioning. Experience of HVDC systems and / or land cables would be an advantage but not essential. Similar, transferrable, experience from installation of pipelines or umbilicals will be considered valid.
  • An appreciation of the Transition Business and regulated environment we work in as well as background in either the Offshore Transmission (OFTO) industry, offshore or subsea construction and installation, or the Offshore Wind sector on major projects.
  • Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation. Experience working under Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 would be an advantage but training can be provided.
  • NEC3/4 contract administration awareness would be an advantage but training can…
