Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 plus car/car allowance, performance‑related bonus, and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role – As part of SSEN Transmission’s Pathway to 2030 programme of works, we’re looking for a Control and Protection Engineer to join our Offshore Project Engineering team. The role will help drive forward our HVDC projects and bring new ideas, skills and innovative thinking to deliver a network for Net Zero.

You will
:

• Provide HVDC and AC substation protection and control technical support on projects to resolve technical issues.
• Contribute to the definition and verification of the basis of project design and scope, and confirm the design during construction, installation and commissioning.
• Apply knowledge of HVDC commissioning and engineering (considered a plus).
• Design and commission AC protection.
• Evaluate tenders and manage specialist services obtained from consultants.
• Review third‑party contractor/consultant detailed designs, witness FATs and support field teams to ensure quality of installations.
• Collaborate with engineers in specialist remits, supporting other HVDC and AC projects through review of key issues.
• Promote and manage safety within assigned projects through implementation of CDM procedures, ensuring compliance with company, HSE and industry regulations.

You have
:

• A BEng/BSc (or higher) in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven technical ability from key roles in AC or HVDC protection and control, including OEM experience.
• Demonstrable technical skills in AC or HVDC protection and control specification and scheme design.
• Effective communication, time‑management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
