Lead Food Safety and Quality Excellence in a Dynamic Manufacturing Environment
We are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to lead and oversee the food safety and quality programs at a high-performing food manufacturing site. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact, ensuring that products meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Food Safety & Quality Department
- Lead and develop a team of QC technicians to ensure daily deliverables are achieved
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation programs to maintain regulatory compliance
- Approve new ingredients and packaging for food safety and quality standards
- Maintain continuous approval programs for existing vendors
- Manage allergen programs, environmental monitoring, and testing procedures
- Oversee Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, and Kosher certification programs, including communication with certifying bodies
- Serve as the main liaison for customers regarding food safety inquiries and complaints
- Conduct internal investigations, reporting, and monthly trend analysis for customer complaints
- Deliver employee food safety and quality training programs
- Manage waste programs in collaboration with site contractors
- Execute lab sampling, including sample retrieval, submission, and documentation
- Ensure the site maintains SQF certification and compliance with Modules 2 & 11
- Conduct internal audits, program validations, and scheduled verifications
- Lead annual SQF, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections
- Serve as liaison with FDA and other regulatory bodies
- Lead HACCP, Food Defense, and Product Recall teams
Required Qualifications
- HACCP Certified
- PCQI Certified
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the food industry managing a Food Safety & Quality program
- Experience in leading teams within fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, compliance standards, and certifications
- Experience working cross-functionally with purchasing, production, product development, and sales
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement robust quality management systems
- Detail-oriented, organized, and accountable
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
