Overview
The Clinical Applications Analyst serves as the primary administrator and functional owner of the organization’s clinical applications, including the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and CJMC’s related clinical applications. This role is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of clinical applications—ensuring reliable day-to-day operation, data flow, and user support. The analyst works closely with clinical users, operations, leadership, IT, and vendors to ensure CJMC’s applications function effectively, securely, and in alignment with department workflows and regulatory requirements.
Position is in person location Perth Amboy, NJ.
Responsibilities Clinical Application Configuration- Configure and maintain application/EHR tools including templates, order sets, clinical documentation forms, encounter plans, and clinical decision support
- Support user preference configuration and role-based access
- Participate in and lead new feature rollouts, module activations, and system upgrades through build, testing, and validation
- Ensure system configuration aligns with clinical best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards
- Implement digital application projects to support provider and patient experience
- Partner with providers, clinical staff, and operational teams to understand clinical/dental workflows
- Translate clinical and operational requirements into application configuration
- Identify opportunities to standardize workflows and reduce variation across departments
- Support application optimization initiatives focused on usability, efficiency, and patient safety
- Serve as a primary point of contact for application issues
- Troubleshoot configuration-related issues and coordinate resolution with application vendors or internal IT teams
- Document issues, resolutions, and configuration decisions for ongoing reference
- Develop and maintain user guides, workflows, and configuration documentation
- Provide training and support for new hires and existing staff related to system use and changes
- Communicate system updates and changes clearly to clinical stakeholders
- Follow established change control and governance processes for system updates
- Participate in testing and validation prior to application releases
- Ensure configurations are documented, approved, and consistently implemented
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Nursing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2-5+ years of experience supporting or configuring clinical applications or EHR systems in a healthcare environment (preferred: Athena, Dentrix)
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows
- Experience configuring EHR tools such as templates, order sets, alerts, or documentation workflows
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clinical and non-technical users
- Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or ambulatory care setting
- Prior experience supporting providers, nursing staff, or clinical operations
- Formal training or certification in clinical informatics or EHR application support
- Clinical background exposure (EMT, MA, LPN, or similar) not required, but helpful
