Accounting Manager

A well-established manufacturing organization in the Perth Amboy/Woodbridge area is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support the Controller and lead key month-end close and reporting responsibilities during a temporary leave - with strong potential to convert to a permanent leadership role.

This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment and enjoys owning the close process from start to finish.

• Lead and execute monthly and annual close activities
• Perform and review bank reconciliations and cash reporting
• Calculate and accrue sales commissions; analyze sales reporting
• Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Partner with A/P and A/R to ensure accurate processing of payments and rebates
• Support audit preparation and financial reporting
• Maintain fixed asset records and lease accounting coordination
• Drive process improvements and enhance accounting efficiency
• Heavy Excel analysis and ERP data extraction (Cloud-based system)

If the role converts to permanent, you will supervise one Staff Accountant and build out leadership responsibilities.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge
• Advanced Excel skills (must be comfortable working heavily in spreadsheets)
• Experience owning or heavily contributing to month-end close
• Manufacturing experience preferred (not required)
• Experience working with commissions, cash, and structured reporting environments
• Leadership experience or clear potential to step into management

• Strong visibility to leadership (reports directly to Controller)
• Hybrid flexibility (typically Tues–Thurs onsite)
