Salary: £29,832 - £31,877 per annum

Hours per Week: 35 Hours

Location: Pershore

Team: Education Engagement LINCs Team

Contract: Permanent, all year round

The Role

Worcestershire County Council are looking for an Education Engagement Officer (Absence Monitoring) who shares our passion for keeping children and young people at the heart of everything we do. The role involves providing a good education for all, acting in a professional and timely way to protect children from harm, and supporting inclusivity and diversity.

About Us

The Worcestershire County Council Education Engagement Team provides many statutory services to all Worcestershire residents for all Worcestershire schools.

This role will be within the LINCs Team who are responsible for Absence Monitoring within schools, Participation Monitoring of the Post 16 cohort, identification of children missing education or elective home education, provision of Child Entertainment and Employment licences, and support of the Operation Encompass early intervention safeguarding partnership.

Responsibilities

You will support the Education Absence Monitoring Officers and collaborate with the rest of the team and external services to identify children not in education or not receiving suitable education. You will prepare for discussion at the weekly CCAS panel where appropriate, and contribute continuously to improving the service.

The role is data and process driven, desk‑based, and involves entering information into various systems and databases, reviewing and assessing educational situations, and making decisions on further consideration by the LA.

You will work as part of a small, dynamic team providing frontline support, giving advice and guidance to schools, parents and professionals. The role requires working under pressure, meeting deadlines, communicating effectively in person and in writing, dealing with anxious or apprehensive individuals sensitively, and using diplomacy and professional challenge as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Strong attention to detail, high standards of work, confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.

Demonstrable computing experience, especially with MS Office, spreadsheets, and management information databases.

Outstanding organisational skills, ownership, accountability and responsibility for work, and excellent relationship‑building skills.
