Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Compensation
  • Hourly Pay: $33.16 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained (up to $700)
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter – four times per year
  • Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday‑Friday
  • Hours:

    Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or technical certification/post‑secondary degree (preferred)
  • Basic tools (required)
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventative maintenance: oil changes, brake and tire work (required)
  • Minimum two (2) years of a combination of classroom training and work experience (preferred)
  • Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A (preferred)
  • Driver responsibilities: position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee you must:
    • Obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
    • Pass a Ryder drug test
    • Pass a DOT physical
    • Pass a Ryder road test
    • Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Important note:

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance
  • Perform standard component inspections and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to service island support
