Diesel Technician

Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Perrysburg, Ohio.

• Hourly Pay: $33.16 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Sign On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days

  Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Vocational or Technical Certification / Post‑secondary degree or Technical Certifications (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
• Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
• Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire, pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance, component inspections and repairs, and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform required repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but not limited to Service Island support
