Salary Recruitment Range: $58,613 - $70,000 Salary Grade: NC17 The posting will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the closing date.
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Investigation And Adjustment of All Losses to State-Owned Property Insured Through the State Property Fire Insurance Fund and the Public-School Fund.
When a final claim is submitted to the SPFIF or the PSIF, the Proof of Loss and other supporting documentation will be scrutinized for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness and to determine if the amount requested is consistent with the damages and the anticipated remedy. When necessary, Specialist will engage the services of building or electrical inspectors, engineers, architects, or other specialists to assist in the claim's effort.
Employee will serve as a resource to state agencies, universities, community colleges and participating public schools by guiding them through the claims process, advising them of ways to expedite the handling of their claims, providing information on specialized cleaning and repair facilities, acting as a mediator with other insurance companies, etc. The Loss Control and Claims Specialist may also assist agencies, upon request, on an advisory basis for claims that are not covered by the SPFIF or PSIF.
When losses involve the States reinsurer or other insurance companies, the Specialist will coordinate investigation and adjustment activities with the claims adjuster of the company and arrange for loss payment or subrogation. In the absence of the Director of Risk Management, the Loss Control and Claims Specialist may present losses to the Council of State for approval.
