Where You Will Work

The Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for the survey and certification process of health care facilities across the State of Florida. These surveys ensure that all state licensed and federally certified health care facilities meet the established state and/or federal requirements, providing safe, quality health care. Field Operations staff also ensure the safety of residents in health care facilities during emergencies such as natural disasters.

You Will Do

The primary function of the Registered Nurse Specialist is to conduct inspections utilizing an established survey process. This includes evaluating health care facilities for state licensure and federal certification requirements for participation under Medicare/Medicaid. The incumbent will document findings and complete written reports of survey findings. Duties may be performed as an individual, team member, or team leader. As required, the position will complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within the first 12 months of employment.

This position is mission‑essential and may require work on weekends, holidays, and during disasters, including travel to other counties or staffing locations.

The position also requires proficiency with computer equipment and software programs such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as smartphone technology. Candidates must be available to work before and after normal hours, including weekends and holidays, and may be required to travel extensively, including overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements

Licensure as a registered professional nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and two years of professional nursing experience.

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 64B9‑3.
