Big Top is currently accepting resumes for a Human Resources (HR) Specialist. The HR Specialist will provide operational and tactical support to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of HR services across the organization. This position covers a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management. This position reports to the HR and Compliance Manager and is based at our facility in Perry, FL.

Onsite presence is required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists with the recruitment process to include creating job advertisements, screening resumes and applications, and representing the company at recruitment-related functions.
  • Prepares and manages onboarding activities for salaried employees to ensure a smooth employee experience.
  • Supports the payroll process by gathering, entering and verifying employee data.
  • Addresses employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Supports employee engagement initiatives and organizational culture programs.
  • Assists with performance review processes and training initiatives.
  • Coordinates benefits administration including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of HR files and records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required

Skills And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Exhibits a high level of accuracy and precision.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Competent in HR information system.
  • Occasional travel to recruitment-related events which may require overtime.
Education And Experience
  • At least three years experience in a related HR role within a manufacturing or construction environment required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to accurately exchange information with job seekers, vendors, co-workers and management.
  • Occasionally moves files and boxes of records weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time.
  • Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional overtime may be required for recruitment-related events.
