Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Acute Rehab Unit position requiring strong neuro skills and an active IL license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Acute Rehab Unit within a post-acute care hospital setting

• Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputations, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases

• Unit consists of 29 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights

• Use of Epic EMR system

• Shifts are 12 hours, nights (7:00pm–7:30am)

• Weekend requirement is every other weekend

• Holiday rotations required (every other holiday)

• Floating required to LTAC or med-surg units, not to HAU unless trained

• No on-call or standby requirements

• RNs are required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab

• Support staff includes nurse aides (1:9/10 ratio), PT, OT, and speech therapy

• Orientation includes 2 days of classroom and 2-3 days/nights preceptorship

• No titration of drips, except for heparin; tele packs may be used but not monitored by RNs

• Any color scrubs are permitted, t-shirts require approval

• COVID-19 vaccination is not required

• Local candidates within 50 miles may be offered at a local rate

• House supervisors provide support, no dedicated charge nurse

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration

• Current BLS (AHA) certification required

• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience

• Strong neuro nursing skills required

• Must have experience with Epic EMR

• Must be able to learn QRP and specific rehab documentation

• Must be able to pass a drug screen for all panels
