Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Acute Oncology position requiring IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration on night shifts.

• Work in an acute care Oncology unit with 19 private beds
• Patient population includes all cancer types, hematology, radiation oncology, and Gyn/Onc patients
• Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:4-6 depending on shift and census
• Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens required
• 12-hour night shifts ) with every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Charting is done using EPIC with Epic Beacon
• Will be part of the float rotation with other RNs to similar med/surg level units
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Use of set rate drips, including heparin and 24-hour chemotherapy (such as Methotrexate)
• Will monitor for side effects of chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications
• No requirement to titrate drips without physician order
• Charge RN and house supervisor are available 24/7; charge RNs rarely take patient assignments
• Patient care techs (PCTs) assist based on census with 2-3 PCTs per shift
• RNs do not interpret telemetry strips; house wide telemetry system with Phillips monitors in use
• Self-scheduling is available but coordinated for unit needs in 6-week cycles
• Approximately 24-36 hours of department-specific orientation provided
• No specific scrub color required
• COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
• Local candidates are accepted with an adjusted rate for those living within 50 miles

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent acute oncology experience
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate required
• Must have experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy drug administration
• Experience with PPE precautions for chemotherapy medications
• Able to work night shifts and fulfill weekend and holiday rotation
