Position: RN - ICU 8P

Overview

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process.

Qualifications
  • Certifications:

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA);
    Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
    Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Education:

    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Work Experience:
Responsibilities Clinical Excellence Focus
  • Promotes evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures.
  • Assesses patient's status through interview, observation, and physical assessment of actual problems and outcomes.
  • Develops an individualized plan of care collaboratively with the patient/family and healthcare team.
  • Uses appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes.
  • Evaluates and documents patient's progress throughout the shift.
  • Modifies the care plan based on ongoing evaluation and patient condition changes.
  • Completes required documentation, including patient charts and event reports.
  • Demonstrates professional accountability by seeking resources and engaging in self-development.
  • Maintains technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoots issues.
  • Stays current with evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Supports the professional development of self and team members.
  • Shares clinical knowledge through informal teaching and responds to learning needs.
  • Addresses patient moving and handling issues practically and safely.
  • Ensures patient and staff safety through proper use of lift equipment.
  • Possesses skills for obtaining and testing lab specimens, including bedside testing and quality control.

Patient Education Focus
  • Assesses and selects teaching strategies suitable for patient/family needs.
  • Adapts teaching based on patient response and comprehension levels.
  • Considers cultural, age, gender, and developmental factors in education.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures, aligning with National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Uses hospital resources, including the SVI education system, for patient and family education.
Performance Improvement Focus
  • Participates in data collection, analysis, and process improvement efforts.
  • Ensures care aligns with standards, evidence-based practices, and quality initiatives.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and promotes patient and family satisfaction.
  • Engages in performance improvement projects and audits.
  • Follows up on patient and family requests efficiently.
  • Encourages team excellence and participates in unit councils.
  • Implements practice changes based on literature and outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits
