Warehouse Worker/Mailroom Inserter – Peoria Journal Star
$15.00 per hour (days)
$250 sign‑on bonus
The Peoria Journal Star has immediate openings for part‑time inserters. This entry‑level position performs post‑press‑related packaging tasks and averages 20‑29 hours per week.
Applicants must be available for day and/or evening shifts (late nights, early mornings, and weekends). Duties include regular lifting of printed materials, periodically up to 35 lbs., and continuous reaching during production runs.
Reliable transportation is required. Candidates must maintain regular availability for the shifts indicated above.
Responsibilities- Feed preprints into the insert machine hopper neatly and accurately.
- Monitor the insert machine to reduce double inserts and/or skips so that all jackets receive the correct inserts.
- Remove completed bundles, weighing 10 to 50 pounds, and stack neatly for the next step in packaging delivery.
- Perform general clean‑up of papers, skids, and debris during the workday.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- High degree of safety awareness.
- Above‑average problem‑solving skills to monitor and repair automatic inserting and collating equipment.
- Physical dexterity to lift and move material; able to stand for long periods and lift or pile newspaper products that vary in weight from 10 to 50 pounds or more at one time.
- Ability to change work assignments on short notice and to be flexible in scheduling.
- Capacity to work in production areas while forklifts, pallet jacks, inserting, and related equipment are in use.
