Summary

Independently installs, repairs, troubleshoots and maintains equipment such as manufacturing process equipment, robotics, automation, conveyance systems, packaging systems, and ancillary equipment within industrial manufacturing settings. Applies knowledge and aptitude of industrial electrical, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and power controls.

Principal Duties / Responsibilities
  • Performs expert level break‑fix & preventative maintenance: observes devices in operation to locate root cause, dismantles devices to remove defective parts, examines parts for imperfections, adjusts functional parts, repairs or replaces defective parts, tests devices to observe performance, and performs tests for electrical circuitry and mechanical systems.
  • Identifies and sources parts, supplies, and repair items as necessary; evaluates alternatives to improve cost and/or reliability of equipment.
  • Independently performs maintenance as per industry standards.
  • Works with customer counterparts to optimize maintenance, reliability, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • May be required to set up and operate multiple machining operations, including lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts; may perform welding tasks.
  • Complies with customer contractor codes of conduct, housekeeping standards, and safety processes.
  • Documents work performed in service reports, applicable management systems, and written explanations regarding observations and equipment performance data.
  • Provides assistance to lower‑level technicians and leadership on project teams; performs expert functions as part of training and development.
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes complex control systems to resolve in‑depth software/hardware and configuration problems.
  • Utilizes advanced maintenance technologies to collect equipment performance data, observes trends, and makes recommendations.
  • Completes and conducts on‑the‑job training and technical self‑study programs for career development.
  • Follows all safety‑related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; maintains situational awareness and identifies unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Associates degree with a technical focus and 10 years of related experience in a specific industry; or 12 years of experience in a specific industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems; ability to analyze problems, synthesize alternative solutions, and perform repairs.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and specialized tools as appropriate.
  • Extensive travel required (local, national, international).
Desirable KSAs
  • Experience in condition‑based maintenance techniques, precision mechanical alignments, and maintenance of applicable process equipment.
  • Experience in programmable logic controllers, field‑device troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical drive and motor systems.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or descend heights that may require a ladder or lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Must occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds. Requires close vision and color vision. Exposure to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock;

work typically performed in a noisy factory environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials and greasy or slippery factory floors.
