Duties As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-5378-5/8/10, you will accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled powered support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
* Troubleshoot, calibrate, align, and repair highly complex powered support equipment using manufacturer drawings, specifications, and operating instructions.
* Repair or replace electronic components including digital and analog devices within powered support equipment.
* Perform repair of composite materials, gas compressor turbines, and electronically controlled engines.
* Perform intermediate-level maintenance on powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment including engines, generators, accessories, and rebuilt units.
* Diagnose and repair gas turbine malfunctions by disassembling, assembling, and repairing components and sub-systems.
* Troubleshoot unusual and complex maintenance problems by analyzing tables, charts, formulas, wiring diagrams, and schematic symbols.
* Perform circuit analysis and apply electronic principles to fault-isolate and repair digital devices in powered support equipment.
* Determine the extent of repairs and corrective actions required through the use of test equipment and technical data.
* Diagnose malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and applicable technical publications.
* Interpret and apply manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures.
* Independently determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to fault-isolate and repair unusual equipment problems.
* Maintain and apply Technical Orders, Technical Order Files, commercial technical publications, and other governing directives.
* Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, and adjustments in accordance with technical data and prescribed standards.
* Use sophisticated test equipment such as analyzers, digital meters, oscilloscopes, and other measuring devices to determine repair requirements.
* Remove, repair, overhaul, and rebuild engines and components including crankshafts, pistons, valves, bearings, cams, clutches, and wiring.
* Perform corrosion control duties including inspection, cleaning, stripping, sanding, priming, and painting of aerospace ground equipment.
* Perform inspections, calibration, and repair on test and shop equipment.
* Collect maintenance data and prepare required forms, reports, and documentation. Requirements Conditions of employment
