This Senior Data Scientist will be joining the Caterpillar Rental Data Engagement Team of CAT Digital. The team partners with Caterpillar Dealers to help them understand equipment rental data more effectively and make data‑driven decisions for their business. The role involves performing analytical tasks and initiatives on huge amounts of data to support data‑driven business decisions and development.

What You Will Do- Direct the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes for huge volumes; create appropriate data models.
- Explore, promote, and implement semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis, and machine learning techniques.
- Lead the definition of requirements and scope of data analyses; present and report possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.
- Conduct research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy of data analyses.
- Business Statistics:
Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools to assist in making business decisions. - Accuracy and Attention to Detail:
Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high precision. - Machine Learning:
Knowledge of principles, technologies, and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop, implement, and deliver related systems, products, and services. - Programming
Languages:
Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools, techniques, and platforms to write and modify code. - Query and Database Access Tools:
Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support, and access facilities for searching, extracting, and formatting data for further use. - Requirements Analysis:
Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze, and record required business functionality and non‑functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience with Python and SQL for data extraction, validation, and management
- Proven experience with data warehousing projects;
Snowflake preferred - Experience building security systems models for data warehouses
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and technologies using R, Python, etc.
- Proven experience interfacing with customers to create requirements for data science needs preferred
- This position requires the candidate to be located near one of the following offices:
Illinois (Peoria or Chicago) and Texas (Dallas). - Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.
