- Excellent communication skills are required
- 3+ years of Powershell Scripting:
Power Shell Guru (understands how Power Shell interacts with API). - Automation within a virtual environment (VMware/Hyper‑V). Power
CLI is VMware’s API, but it doesn’t have to be Power
CLI (preferred) – other automation tools are acceptable. Need to know how to use Power Shell to interface with VMware. - Experience with Storage Automation, how scripting automation relates to NAS environment.
- Update all scripts for Power
CLI version 6 (most scripts may need slight changes due to how VMware moved to modules instead of snap‑ins). - Manage VMware Power
CLI scripts in SVN (GIT). - Use existing and new scripts to create a Power Shell module for all VMware scripts; this module will be the single safe source for all VMware scripting.
- Write decommissioning scripts – remove networking, storage, run final checks, etc. for EOL hosts.
- Develop Orchestrator workflows for everyday changes to VMs.
- Integrate Remedy into Orchestrator.
- Create Orchestrator (vRO) workflows that will create and process change tickets for all non‑outage resource changes.
- Automated role syncing between all vCenters.
- Automated top‑level permissions syncing between all vCenters.
- Automated scripted build of a new vCenter.
- VDS scripting – automated deployment of new VDS switches and enforcing consistent configuration on them.
- Host profile syncing between vCenters.
