Position Summary

The Clinical Assistant (Orthotic Fitter) supports certified clinicians in delivering high-quality orthotic and pedorthic care. This is a hands‑on, patient‑facing role involving patient interaction, device fitting support, education, documentation, and clinic operations.

This full‑time position is ideal for individuals coming from healthcare, hospital, or academic environments—or those seeking to enter the field through structured training and mentorship.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Assist certified clinicians with patient evaluations, measurements, and device selection.
  • Support fitting, delivery, and basic adjustment of orthotic devices and therapeutic footwear under supervision.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on proper device use, wear schedules, and care.
  • Identify minor fit or comfort concerns and expedite complex issues appropriately.
  • Assist with follow‑up care to ensure patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Complete accurate clinical documentation to support continuity of care and reimbursement.
  • Provide clinical information to administrative staff to assist with billing and insurance processes.
  • Support basic lab, casting, preparation, and device assembly tasks as trained.
  • Assist with inventory tracking, supply management, and clinic organization.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and internal team members.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, Medicare, OSHA, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Patient‑centered mindset with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow through mentorship and feedback.
  • Professional accountability and attention to clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
  • Sound judgment within scope of training and supervision.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong interest in healthcare and direct patient care.
  • Comfortable working hands‑on in a clinical environment.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to work with medical devices.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow‑through.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and assist patients throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a healthcare or patient‑care role (CNA, Medical Assistant, Physical Therapy Aide, Athletic Trainer, etc.).
  • Coursework or degree in kinesiology, exercise science, biology, pre‑PT, athletic training, or related fields.
  • Experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, outpatient clinic, or medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with orthotics, therapeutic footwear, prosthetics, or durable medical equipment.
  • Experience with medical documentation or electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing certification in pedorthics or orthotics.
  • Hourly Pay: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour, based on experience.
