This is an education stipend opportunity. Upon completion of OSF School of Histotechnology's program, education stipend recipients will enter as a Histology Technician/Histology Technologist, at OSF Health Care.
The Education Stipend will be issued as a single payment of $4,200 and will be considered taxable income.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for preparing and staining tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a Pathologist. In doing so, performs high complexity and/or non-routine histology procedures requiring independent technical assessment of assay performance. The position is responsible for the technical operation of specialized histological assays, including training, education, and continued quality improvement of the high-complexity procedures. The position will lead and direct the optimization and validation of new laboratory equipment in accordance with applicable regulatory accrediting agencies.
It will assist with the technical oversight and direct routine histology procedures to ensure high quality, diagnostic throughput. Additionally, the position will participate in the onsite NACCLS-accredited School of Histology by lecturing, providing educational resources, or directing student clinical training. The position requires attention to detail, technical expertise in the chemical rationale of the assays performed, and analytic skills to remedy any technical difficulties encountered with high-complexity histology assays.

Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be enrolled in OSF School of Histotechnology
