Overview
Job Title:
Occupational Health Nurse
Duration: 24 months Contract
Pay Rate: $46 - $50/hr
Location:
Peoria, IL
- This position serves as a highly skilled, autonomous occupational health nurse within the Corporate Medical Department. Incumbents typically have previous general healthcare, acute care, or occupational health experience.
- Provide clinic support for employees, including basic occupational nursing needs, triage of injuries, drug testing program, post-offer/ph hiring process, wellness exams, monthly wellness initiatives, return-to-work process, and non-occupational illness care.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing services related to employee illness and injury.
- Function as an autonomous nurse with the ability to respond independently to clinical and administrative demands; seek consultation as needed.
- Lead on-site medical emergency responses when necessary.
- Act as the local liaison with contracted occupational health providers.
- Assume responsibility for clinical administration, including delegation of some duties to clinic staff, maintaining clinic order, delivering new employee orientation presentations, and maintaining metrics and documentation for corporate medical functions via paper records and/or HR data systems.
- Serve as liaison between local facility and the Corporate Medical Department to ensure medical services meet facility leadership and employee expectations.
- Support local Human Resources and facility leadership in health, safety, productivity, and engagement initiatives; may serve on the local Emergency Response Team (ERT).
- Support Disability Case Management activities.
- Assist medical staff and outside entities in determining work-relatedness of injuries, regulatory compliance, and investigations.
- Deliver wellness communications and on-site wellness programming.
- Engage in special projects and program delivery as needed.
- Conduct DOT drug testing and fit-for-duty evaluations; conduct OSHA mandated and other surveillance exams.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and improve occupational medical practices.
- 3-5 years Emergency or Clinic experience required.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent triage skills in an autonomous setting.
- Education/Certification:
Associate’s degree in nursing required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
