Position OverviewThe Vice President of Finance is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, and integrity of all financial operations. This leader will ensure fiscal sustainability, protect organizational assets, and support long-term strategic growth.
The VP of Finance oversees accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, investments, treasury, risk management, compliance, and audit functions. The role also serves as a primary financial advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational mission and long-term goals
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to executive leadership
- Lead long-range financial planning, forecasting, and capital strategy
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue management processes
- Direct annual budget development and present to Board and Finance Committee
- Manage treasury, cash flow, investments, and debt portfolio
- Monitor key financial performance indicators and organizational health
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable nonprofit regulatory requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks
- Coordinate external audits and oversee audit readiness
- Establish and monitor investment policies and guidelines
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and reporting improvements
- Partner cross-functionally to align financial strategy with operational priorities
- Present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the Board and committees (Finance, Investment, Audit)
- Communicate complex financial matters clearly to non-financial audiences
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on major business decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA preferred)
- CPA required
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior executive role
- Proven experience managing complex budgets, investments, and long-term financial planning
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit compliance requirements, and internal controls
- Experience working with Boards and Board committees
- Nonprofit or healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting platforms
- Strategic and analytical mindset

- Ability to operate effectively in a mission-driven environment
