Travel Educational Interpreter - Peoria, IL

A dynamic opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support educational settings in Peoria, IL. This role involves working directly within schools, facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their educators, peers, and staff. The position requires travel between school locations to provide consistent language support throughout the academic day.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to ensure clear communication
• Assist in classrooms, meetings, and school events as needed
• Facilitate understanding of educational material for students with hearing impairments
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting

Preferred Qualifications and

Experience:

• Proficient fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience interpreting in educational environments is highly desirable

• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
