Join us in the important work of forming disciples of Jesus Christ through community, faith, knowledge, and service. Peoria Notre Dame High School has an opening for a social studies teacher for the 2026-27 school year and beyond to serve our motivated and passionate students, teach them in a Catholic environment of academic inquiry, and instill in them a passion for problem-solving, collaborating, interpreting, analyzing, and lab skills.

At PND, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside faculty and staff members committed to bettering themselves as teachers and Christians. We know we can't share what we don't have, and therefore we offer ample opportunities for our faculty and staff to strengthen their spiritual lives through daily Mass, daily adoration and confession, biweekly faith formation meetings, an annual faculty retreat, and All School Mass.

In addition to spiritual development, we offer engaging and collaborative professional learning once each month: new teacher meetings, professional development sessions and department meetings.

Many of the benefits of working at PND are visible—competitive salary, health and dental benefits, a 403b match program, and tuition discounts for your children at our partner schools and y benefits are not as visible—young people who are respectful and engaged, small teacher-to-student class sizes, and the opportunity to be part of a Catholic community with a rich history and a united mission.

Priority will be given to candidates who hold a bachelor's degree and Illinois teaching license, who have a science endorsement (especially in chemistry) and who eagerly share their love for Christ with others. We're seeking teachers who love to innovate and differentiate in the classroom, who want to teach students to think critically, who assess students formally and informally, and who appreciate and support diverse learners.

  • Bachelor's degree in secondary education + Illinois teaching license
  • Science endorsement (preference given to those with chemistry experience)
  • Willingness to share their love of Christ with others
  • Ability to innovate and differentiate in the classroom, teach students to think critically, and appreciate and support diverse learners
Responsibilities
  • Teaching five courses per semester and one course per winterim
  • Supervising one advisory class each day
  • Chaperoning one school dance each year
  • Attending faith formation, All School Masses, faculty retreats, faculty institutes, and in-house professional development sessions
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range: $35,000-$65,000
  • Medical, dental, prescription and vision plans for individuals and families
  • Paid time off: sick leave, holidays, personal days
  • Retirement savings: 403B with employer contributions
