Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Embrace and help grow the mission of Pleasant Valley which is to "engage, inspire, and empower each student towards academic excellence and citizenship".
* Instruct students in basic subjects in order to prepare them for future schooling.
* Create, administer and grade lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
* Prepare students for standardized testing.
* Observe, assess and evaluate student performance. Identify when intervention may be needed.
* Develop and enforce classroom rules.
* Contact parents to acquire & provide information on academic student progress when necessary.
* Supervise students during recess, lunch and extracurricular activities as needed.
* Establish an appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
* Supervise and monitor the halls during arrival, bathroom breaks, in between classes and at dismissal.
* Other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
* Must have a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
* Must have a positive attitude and positive approach to meeting the needs of our students.
* Display fair judgment, time management, and an ability to prioritize.
* Organized and able to multitask.
* Strong ability to control a classroom in a direct, but positive, manner.

Schedule:
Determined by years of experience and total graduate semester hours. A teacher can increase their salary by moving down the salary schedule with more experience, by moving horizontally towards the advanced degree columns, or by doing both.

* 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
* 180 total working days per school year
