Job Summary

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry seeks a Correctional Officer 1 at the Perryville Complex. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, secure, and humane correctional environment while advancing public safety through evidence‑based practices.

Job Duties
  • Ensure the security of the inmate population within facility boundaries.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to inmates.
  • Conduct thorough pat‑and‑strip searches to maintain safety.
  • Effectively de‑escalate incidents and respond to emergency situations.
  • Initiate and complete accurate, timely reports.
  • Fulfill all assigned post duties diligently.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Physical fitness and stamina for extended standing, searches, and rapid responses.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality in decision‑making.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Proof of legal U.S. residency.
  • Background investigation clearance.
  • Successful completion of E‑Verify and a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
