Job Description

The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs community clinical and medication programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, complying with the Nurse Practice Act and standards of clinical practice as defined by the American Nurses Association. They collaborate with the Executive Director on clinical concerns and compliance issues and serve as a clinical resource for community staff.

  • Provide nursing care to residents, including health assessments, care plan development and review with residents and families, discussing changes with physicians, implementing fall prevention interventions, medication administration, and resident care assistance.
  • Ensure timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record; communicate additional care provided to the Business Office Manager for accurate billing.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant state regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Be available to work on-call shifts as needed.
  • Qualifications

    Successful candidates will have:

    • An active Nursing License for the state of the community (RN preferred, LPN or Vocational Nurse as per state requirements)
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or Gerontology (preferred)
    • 1-2 years of management experience
    • Experience in community, acute, skilled, or long-term care settings, with geriatric and dementia care knowledge
    • Ability to train staff, assess systems, and implement improvements; organized and self-directed
    • Meet state-specific qualifications and training requirements
    • Basic computer skills (email, documents, spreadsheets, data entry)
