The Police Hiring Specialist position is a professional staff position within the Police Department. This position will work four, ten-hour shifts Monday through Thursday at the Public Safety Administration Building located on the Peoria City Hall Campus. This position performs the following tasks:
- Assists with the recruitment efforts of applicants for both sworn and professional staff positions.
- Assists with the hiring processes to include, but not limited to, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and scheduling appointments for both sworn and professional staff positions.
- Conducts in-depth and highly detailed law enforcement applicant background investigations and makes hiring recommendations for both sworn and professional staff positions.
- Performs additional duties as assigned

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A strong foundation in law enforcement hiring and background investigations and is detail oriented.
- The adaptability for frequently changing tasks, balancing multiple priorities and maintaining clear communication.
- The ability to effectively manage time and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
- The ability to balance working independently with collaborating as a unit and has demonstrated experience building positive relationships.
- A passion for law enforcement and making a positive impact on the community, as well as a commitment to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service.

QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Job-related experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year related experience in a related field.
Licenses and
Certifications:
- Full Police Department background check required, including a polygraph.
- Attainment of Arizona Criminal Justice Information Systems Terminal Operator Certification within 6 months of hire.
Preferred/Desirable
Qualifications:
- Experience in a municipal or government setting.
- Experience in Police Department Recruitment.
- Experience with Police Department Background Investigations.
- AZPOST Background Investigator Certified.
