About the Role
The San Diego Padres are seeking an entry‑level Performance Dietitian to support the nutrition needs of players across the Arizona Complex League (ACL), Dominican Republic Complex team, and Minor League Rehab group. This full‑time position is based in Peoria, AZ, requires frequent travel to the Dominican Republic, and demands flexibility to work non‑traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. It reports to the Lead Performance Dietitian.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with medical, strength & conditioning, mental performance, sports science, and education staff to deliver integrated player care.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Conduct hydration and body composition testing – providing support and education.
- Provide performance nutrition interventions and counsel athletes on nutrition for daily health, performance, and recovery from illness or injury.
- Develop and implement applicable education for athletes – hand‑outs, cooking demos, grocery store tours, etc.
- Provide individualized and group nutrition education to players in English and Spanish.
- Manage supplement inventory, ordering, and distribution for Arizona and Dominican Republic complexes.
- Maintain understanding in MLB supplement standards and implement supplement protocols at the complexes.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff members to deliver high‑quality dining experiences for players & staff.
- Review menus and provide feedback to ensure alignment with Performance Nutrition Department & cultural food preferences at both the Arizona Complex and Dominican Republic Complex.
- Maintain supply and appearance of nutrition fueling stations across the complex.
- Cater meals for the Arizona Complex as needed, maintaining presence to receive and execute catering.
- Travel to Dominican Republic Complex at minimum four times per calendar year.
- Maintain regular communication with the Lead Performance Dietitian and Minor League Performance Dietitian.
- Be available for Spring Training (February & March) and off-season camps (November & January).
- Represent the Club in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Support the Nutrition Department and contribute to team projects or tasks outside of defined responsibilities, as assigned by the Lead Performance Dietitian.
- Strong collaboration, communication, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to multi‑task and manage projects on strict deadlines.
- Possess a high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Professional image and demeanor.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, respectful team.
- Team‑player attitude that is consistent, punctual, and reliable in attendance.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in nutrition and one year of experience in sports nutrition at the collegiate or professional level (master’s degree preferred but not required).
- Experience working in baseball is a plus, but not necessary.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
- Able to travel as required.
- Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
- Must successfully complete all post‑offer, pre‑employment requirements, including a background check.
Base salary range: $58,000.00 to $60,000.00 per year.
