QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation management, Airport management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance or a closely related field and;
Seven (7) years of pertinent experience, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity and two (2) of which must have been at a FAR 139 air carrier airport in a management/supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Human Resources Department.

Certifications:
  • Valid driver’s license and any required licenses, training, or certifications required by law.
  • Pass and maintain a Department of Homeland Security/TSA background check, as well as a Criminal History Record Check to be eligible to obtain and keep an airport .

JOB SUMMARY

This is professional and supervisory work in the field of Airport maintenance. This position will oversee and coordinate construction, maintenance and repair work, as well as perform skilled work in an airport environment. Requires working with a variety of complex systems, and or heavy specialized equipment, as well as a variety of light construction, preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep projects. Also requires the ability to interact with airport tenants and the traveling public, and work under the security requirements mandated by the TSA and other government agencies.

An employee in this class is responsible for training, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of skilled and unskilled subordinate employees. General direction is received from the Maintenance Manager, but the employee has considerable latitude in establishing work priorities, schedules, and related assignments. The employee will exercise independent judgment in carrying out assignments. The employee is subject to emergency calls as a routine part of regular duties.

This position is also subject to regular on-call/re-call and must participate in the Airport’s re-call program. Work is evaluated through review of results attained.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises subordinate maintenance division employees in all phases of building and airfield maintenance and repair necessary to safely operate and maintain airport facilities.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the work of maintenance personnel to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant maintenance operations.
  • Ensures work orders are reviewed, assigned, and completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established quality, safety, and operational standards.
  • Provides leadership and oversees employee development and performance management, including training on equipment, operations, safety, and security, and ensuring all required certifications and clearances are maintained.
  • Assures employee performance and conduct meet or exceed job requirements and applies appropriate recognition or disciplinary action when corrective measures are necessary.
  • Makes adjustments to assignments, procedures, staffing, and schedules as needed to successfully accomplish maintenance objectives and respond to operational priorities.
  • Conducts periodic inspections of airport facilities and airfield infrastructure to assess conditions, determine maintenance needs, and identify corrective actions.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with outside contractors and oversees contracted work related to scope, scheduling, logistics, manpower, quality, and cost control.
  • Works closely with airport leadership and subordinate supervisors in the development and preparation of maintenance budget estimates and operational plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
