Join the State Attorney's Office, First Judicial Circuit and be part of a dynamic team. We serve Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties. This full‑time position is located in Pensacola, Florida (Escambia County) and operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
PurposeThe Victim Advocate provides direct support to victims of crime throughout the criminal justice process. Victim Advocates liaise between the Assistant State Attorney and the victims, explain the criminal justice system, refer victims to resources, and advocate for their rights. Responsibilities include maintaining ongoing contact, informing victims of their right to attend and participate in meetings and court hearings, and providing primary emotional support.
The role also involves attending depositions, interview sessions, court proceedings, and assisting victims with necessary paperwork.
- Make initial contact with victims to explain the criminal justice process and refer to community resources.
- Maintain and document ongoing contact with victims and keep them informed of rights and court hearings.
- Act as primary emotional support and guide victims through the criminal justice process.
- Attend depositions, hold victim office interviews, attend court proceedings, and assist with victim paperwork.
A high‑school diploma or equivalent and experience in criminal justice, social science, counseling, public contact or customer service, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for experience.
Preferred background in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related fields. Preferred training or work experience in victimization dynamics, community services, or crisis intervention.
