Job Summary

The Middle School/High School Math Teacher position is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering curriculum in secondary math classes (i.e., Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Probability and Statistics) that aligns with both state standards and the School’s educational philosophy; providing regular updates on curriculum development, student progress, and departmental needs; and engaging in open communication with school administrators, seeking guidance and sharing insights to enhance a comprehensive program of instruction to support the overall mission of East Hill Christian School (“EHCS”), focusing on student development, academic success, and the cultivation of a positive, faith‑based school culture.

This person shall be a person of spiritual maturity and shall reflect the purpose of EHCS, which is to honor Christ at all times.

  • Employs innovative and engaging teaching methods to make math concepts accessible and relatable to students.
  • Provides clear and structured lessons that cater to diverse learning styles within the classroom.
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
  • Develops and administers assessments to evaluate students’ understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Provides constructive feedback to students and parents, guiding them on areas of improvement while recognizing achievements.
  • Monitors and tracks student progress, identifying opportunities for additional support or enrichment.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Implements consistent and fair discipline policies in accordance with the School’s policies and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Stays current with educational trends, teaching methodologies, and advancements in the field of mathematics.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, participates in professional development opportunities, and collaborates with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.
  • Communicates effectively with parents, keeping them informed about their children’s academic progress and any related concerns.
  • Actively engages with the School community, attending events and contributing to the overall School culture.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
