Systems & ERP Specialist

Founded in 1946 & with over 350 employees, Bells of Lazonby are an established family baker and market leader within the food and retail sector. Reporting into the Head of IT, this role will play a key part in preparing the groundwork & implementation for a future ERP replacement project.

• Act as the primary owner and subject matter expert for Bells of Lazonby’s current ERP system (Tropos).
• Ensure systems effectively support manufacturing, supply chain, planning, finance, and commercial activities.
• Lead system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Translate operational and commercial requirements into practical system solutions.
• Take full responsibility for the administration, support, and optimisation of the Tropos system.
• Ensure Tropos is embedded effectively across production planning, reporting, and performance management.
• Support and train users across the business to drive strong adoption and consistent usage.
• Work closely with Tropos vendors and partners to resolve issues and deliver enhancements.
• Support with system issues, changes, and process improvements.
• Ensure data integrity, system controls, and appropriate user access.
• Support reporting, KPIs, and management information to enable informed decision-making.
• Assist with audits, compliance, and customer requirements where systems are involved.

• Prepare the groundwork for selecting and implementing a new ERP system.
• Map and document business processes to identify gaps and future requirements.
• Scope out system needs and evaluate potential ERP solutions.
• Lead vendor selection and manage supplier relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proven experience in a Systems, ERP, or Business Systems Specialist role.
• Hands‑on experience with Tropos (essential).
• Experience in process mapping, scoping, reviewing, and vendor selection for ERP projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Exposure to ERP implementations, upgrades, or major system change programmes
• Understanding of supply chain, MRP, or manufacturing finance processes.
• Usage of SQL Server Reporting Services including creating/editing reports
• Systems administration of SQL server including SQL Views, Stored procedures, Maintenance Plans
• Degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred
