Transportation Manager

• Lead day‑shift transportation operations within a cold‑storage environment.
• Oversee a team of approximately six yard jockeys moving product between the facility and warehouse.
• Manage daily activities of three supervisors and a team of roughly 30 employees.
• Direct the work of roles including Shipping Manager, Dispatcher, and Transportation Specialist.
• Oversee and manage performance of a third‑party transportation provider.
• Negotiate freight rates and maintain relationships with outside carriers.
• Conduct monthly inventory counts and ensure accuracy of product movement and documentation.
• Support finished‑product distribution and ensure timely, efficient outbound flow.
• Drive cultural and operational improvements across the transportation team.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence culture and develop teams.
• Background in cold‑storage, temperature‑controlled logistics, or similar distribution environments.
• Experience managing transportation operations involving yard jockeys or shuttle drivers.
• Strong understanding of carrier management, rate negotiation, and third‑party logistics oversight.
• Prior experience supervising multiple teams and large frontline staff groups.
• Knowledge of inventory processes and reconciliation practices.
• Familiarity with finished‑product distribution and warehouse‑to‑facility shuttle operations.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with warehouse, operations, and logistics teams.
